Farm-to-Table Fabulousness at Sprig Restaurant
A house salad made with artisan greens, granny smith apples, raisins, Dutch gouda cheese, and a yummy vanilla vinaigrette. Curried mussels with coconut milk, fennel, tomatoes, and Thai basil. Is your mouth watering yet?
Behold just a few of the yummy (and relatively healthy) dishes served up at Sprig Restaurant in Decatur. I was recently hosted for dinner by the farm-to-table eat spot that specializes in Southern comfort food sourced from regional farms, ranches, and dairies that are guided by the principles of sustainability.
In addition to those wholesome details, I also love the fact that everything made in this spot — sauces, sides, dressings, soups, pickles, chips, etc. — is from scratch, and there are a number of options for my gluten-free friends.
Now, you know I live (and workout) to eat. So, when I visited I indulged in the Coca-Cola braised short ribs and the stone ground cheese grit fries. But if you’re looking to save your calories try the quinoa salad with artisan greens, black beans, tomatoes, red onions, feta cheese, and cilantro-lime vinaigrette, or maybe the pan-seared trout.
And save room for dessert — it’s worth every calorie. I had the flourless chocolate cake (but note that the dessert menu changes often). So, what’s the verdict? Sprig is a fabulous “fit,” folks. Go there — and soon!
