A Spring Challenge that Has Kept Me Mentally “Cyc”ed
The driving “uncha, uncha” bass line of the latest dance tunes. Trying to maintain that “1-2, 1-2” pedal stroke to the rhythm of said tunes. The energetic (and sometimes tough love) encouragement from fabulous instructors like Caroline, Idia, and Ellie. And a really sweet freebie tank top that says “Challenger.” These are just a few of the things that have kept me pumped to continue the Cyc Fitness Spring Challenge that I took on back in March.
From the moment I took my first Cyc indoor cycling class, I knew I loved this format. So, when I was offered a chance to participate in the challenge (which I have to admit was offered to me on the house, y’all), I gladly accepted.
Since then, I have been diligently going to about three Cyc classes a week. It’s not always easy. Sometimes, I’ve done the 6:30 a.m. weekday classes. Sometimes, I’ve headed over during my lunch break. And sometimes, I’ve done back-to-back classes in the evenings. I have to say that I’ve drunk the Kool Aid — and I’m hooked.
In addition to the kick ass 45-minute workout that involves an upper body workout (based on sports movements ranging from rowing to volleyball), what I’ve fallen in love with are the people. I feel like I’ve joined a community. There’s Kelsey, Tiffani, Mic, and Meg (sorry if I’m butchering the spelling of your names!). And then there are the instructors that I mentioned. In addition to the fabulousness they’ve brought to my workout regimen, I also feel like I’ve gained a few new friends. (Shout out to Caroline for indulging my love of talking about teaching group fitness — and our likemindedness when it comes to watches!)
So, before the official challenge comes to a close at the end of May, come in and take a ride with me — and experience what I’m talking about first hand. I’d love to share this favorite “fit” of mine with you!
