“Ding, Ding!” As I heard the familiar clang of the boxing app bell, I had a pretty good idea of the sweet sweat and soreness that was in store for me — courtesy of Chaos Conditioning.
I first visited Chaos back in 2013 and was blown away by the high-intensity interval training workout I enjoyed. Recently, Jeff Baird (owner/trainer/and ring leader of all things chaos) decided to leavehis Buckhead studio and move in at The Forum Athletic Club at Lenox Square Mall. Although I’ve fallen in love with The Forum (the gym is awesome and is also home to my beloved Cyc Fitness classes), I hadn’t taken Jeff up on his invite to try a Chaos class — until last week. (So, disclaimer, y’all, the class was on the house.)
On Monday evening at 7:15 p.m., I joined a pretty impressive group of folks for the Complete Chaos class. For the next hour, we huffed and puffed through multi-minute rounds (that’s where the boxing app bell comes into play — it signals when a round is finished or beginning) filled with cardio and resistance training exercises that incorporate everything from medicine balls to TRXs.
And Jeff did not disappoint. I enjoyed the same old self-propelled treadmills and BOSU drills, which Jeff excels at devising, in a new space that was just as fabulous as the old. It’s like the Baskin-Robbins of cardio and resistance-training workouts — but instead of consuming calories, you’re burning them!
The verdict? This class concept offers up the same great “chaotic” workout that I fell in love with a few years ago. And with the first class being free for newbies there’s no excuse not to try this “fit,” folks!
