Count Me In: Beautycounter Cosmetics
Chemicals and toxins. As I slather on the potions that make me feel pretty each day, I am well aware of the not-so-pretty ingredients that may be lurking in them. And that’s why I decided to give Beautycounter (BC) products a shot.
Look, I’m the first to admit that in this world, we have to pick our poisons. I mean, avoiding chemicals and bad stuff is impossible. For me, I do the best I can with beauty products, but I don’t go to extreme lengths to find organic, harsh chemical free, etc.
However, my dear friend, Lindsey, has become a consultant for BC and suggested that I give the products a shot. (And disclaimer, Lins did provide me with the products to try, free of charge.) The brand prides itself on creating safer products for women to use. For example, BC has a “Never List,” which is made up of more than 1,500 questionable or harmful chemicals that it never uses in products.
I’ve been a loyal Clinique lady for many years, but decided to replace some of my go-tos with the BC equivalents. And here's what I thought...
At the top of my “fit” list was the Lengthening Mascara. Y’all, this is one of the best mascaras I’ve used. Let's just say that when you can’t afford lash extensions, this helps you fake it pretty well. Next up: the Eye Duo eye shadow in peach/bronze. I’m all about subtle when it comes to makeup, and these two options are perfect for day and night.
Clinique recently discontinued my go-to blush stick, so I was thrilled to try BC’s Color Pinch Cream Blush. The hibiscus shade makes me look refreshed and cheerful. Love. Last but not least, the Lip Gloss is also a winner. I am not a lipstick lady — gloss is my thing. And the ruby shade works just as well as my Clinique option.
So, if you’re looking for some makeup alternatives that will make you feel better about what’s being slathered on your skin, why not give BC a try? It’s one less “poison” to have to worry about.
