Kohlrabi, purple snap peas, and fresh pasta — these were my farmers market picks for our VIP Foodie Experience dinner at Omni Grove Park Inn.
Recently, the property invited me to try it out this unique experience. (So, disclaimer, folks, I was hosted by the inn on this visit.) Here’s the scoop… For $150 per person, a single couple or small group of up to four guests get to visit Asheville’s City Market with the executive chef or executive sous chef from EDISON, craft ales + kitchen, one of the inn’s restaurants.
The experience is only available once per weekend, and travel to and from the market is provided by the inn. Oh, and it’s offered based on availability from May through October (during the local growing season).
What’s so cool is that you get to choose the ingredients that will be used to prepare a unique multicourse meal that evening either in EDISON or Vue 1913 (depending on availability). I had a blast suggesting all sorts of ingredients from fresh cheese to strawberries.
Our six-course meal included everything from a carbonara with my purple snap peas to an amberjack crudo that featured the kohlrabi. That Saturday was absolute heaven. So, if you’re looking for a unique food-centric way to spend a weekend, give this “fit” a try!
