“Ohhhhhhh! Now, I get it!” — I had a few of those light-bulb moments during my first private yoga lesson with Brianna Norton, my go-to yoga instructor at exhale Midtown Atlanta.
Over the last year, I’ve become a regular at Brianna’s Tuesday noon and Saturday 9:15 a.m. Power Flow Yoga classes. Over time, the backbends and leg balances have become easier — but the arm balances and handstands have not.
So, when I found out that Bri was offering private lessons, I knew that it was worth the investment to get some solo input. We opted to meet at exhale for the hour-long session (but she will come to your home, too).
Bri kicked things off by discussing what my goals were for the lesson. I told her that I really wanted to focus on tips and tricks that would make the arm balances and intimidating handstands more attainable.
After that, we spent some time going over basic form points on poses like Downward Dog and Warrior A and Warrior B. And using the yoga blocks as tools, Bri shared how I could use them to help me with everything from the arm balances to wheel. For me, this was less of a yoga class and more of an opportunity to break things down and practice specific poses.
It was the sort of one-on-one attention that I need to progress at this point, and I left with several tips that I’ve started using while practicing during the weekly classes I attend.
