Don't Freeze Your Workouts Just Because It's Getting Chilly

Who knew that a fleece, ear-covering headband could make such a difference?

For years, I’ve hated to go running or walking in cold weather, because my inner ears would always start to ache to the point of complete misery. This would result in my complete reluctance to take my workouts outside.

It’s silly that it took me so long, but last year, I FINALLY invested in one of those headbands that cover your ears, and voila — problem solved!

I was reminded of what a lifesaver this headband is during my run the other day. It was cold enough (OK, so in Georgia 40 degrees is “cold enough”) to use my headband, and without it, I don’t think I would have enjoyed my hour run/walk quite as much. I was also reminded of how much I prefer running in the cold vs. the heat.

Whether you are an exercise pro or beginner, now is a good time to remind ourselves of the dos and don’ts of working out in the cold. Click here to check out an article I recently wrote for American Fitness Magazine that shares expert tips on safely and comfortably working out in winter weather.
