Waiting to Exhale: The American Express Centurion Lounge in Miami

A cool glass of rosé, a slice of tasty quiche, and a quick mani or pedi all before catching a flight. Behold, the experience in store for you during a visit to the American Express Centurion Lounge at the Miami International Airport.

Recently, Exhale, one of my favorite spa brands, opened a mini spa in the lounge. And on a recent layover, the Amex and Exhale Spa folks invited me to stop in. (Disclaimer y'all the entrance fee was waived for me on this visit.) Lounge entry is complimentary for global Platinum Card and Centurion members, and is located on Concourse D (near gate D12). Anyone with an Amex card can use the lounge for a $50 fee — and I'm going to tell you why I would gladly pay that fee in the future.

First off, the spa services are included in the fee. From 9 a.m. to 8 p.m., you can enjoy one of the following 15-minute treatments: the mani or pedi options I mentioned, or one of three massage choices. Unfortunately, my layover was cut short, and I didn't get to try a treatment. But I did take a peek at the separate space for the spa — and am eager to return!

Next, there's the food and drink options. I stopped in after an early morning flight and was greeted with a buffet of hot breakfast options that included a yummy quiche. (Of course, food choices change depending on time of day.) And then there is the full bar,  where you can enjoy whatever cocktail your heart desires (my friend, Lane, loved her Bloody Mary) or choose from a variety of wines.

Lastly, this lounge, like most, is just a great little oasis of peace tucked away from the business of the MIA Airport. The decor is clean and white, and the space is flooded with natural light, courtesy of the massive windows overlooking the planes outside. Once I entered the spot, I felt my blood pressure drop. And even better, when it was time for my next flight, I felt relaxed and ready to take on the airport chaos below. An absolute "fit."

Keep up with my FWABulous adventures on FacebookTwitter, and Instagram.
