The Rhythm Is Gonna Get You: Exhale’s New Rhythm and Ride Class
A party on a bike. That’s how I’d describe one of my new favorite classes to teach: Exhale’s Rhythm and Ride indoor cycling class.
After a weekend of intense training, we launched this format (along with a Ride and Results class — more on this in a moment) in early May. (The new formats have been offered at the Boston Battery Wharf studio for awhile and are now taking the place of the generic Exhale Cycle class the Atlanta studio has previously offered.
So, what’s Rhythm and Ride all about? Think 45 minutes of riding to the beat of the music with a bit of upper body choreography (that is, presses, crunches, and some oblique crunches while you peddle). If I had to compare it to an existing cycling format out there, I’d say it’s most similar to a SoulCycle class.
I’ll admit that I’m a little biased, since I teach the format (at 6:30 p.m. on Mondays). But, folks, I have to say that I think it’s a breath of fresh air! I find that the class flies by, because you’re focused on finding the beat of the music as it speeds up and slows down. You’re getting a sweet cardio workout while having a little bit of fun.
And if you don’t think you have rhythm, don’t worry! We want you to make this class your own. If you can’t ride to the beat the whole time (or even most of the time), it’s AOK. Just enjoy the music, move your legs, and maybe crack a smile.
